 Vanamali teaches traditional and Suzuki lessons in the Twin Cities. She directs the Lake Sylvia Flute Institute and teaches at MacPhail Center for Music, Mahtomedi Middle School, and Maple Grove High School as well as maintaining a private home studio, giving clinics and workshops around the metro area, and performing as a freelancer. Brad has a strong teaching background at the primary and secondary school levels teaching students the beginning stages of percussion technique all the way up to intermediate and advanced drum set, hand drum and rudimentary drumming. He also has experience teaching orchestral techniques and a wide variety of drum set styles including jazz, funk, rock, Latin and African patterns. Whether instructing children or adults, Brad is able to communicate percussion techniques in an approachable way that enables the student to master the new skills. He works with his students' interests to adapt the curriculum and increase their engagement. Brad's performance experience encompasses professional theater, jazz, rock, and church ensembles. Currently, Brad is the co-owner and drummer for Power of 10, a 10-piece R&B/funk band that performs regularly throughout the Twin Cities.

Our School
Mahtomedi Middle School provides programming to allow each student to find success academically, socially, and emotionally. Our curriculum provides students exploratory opportunities in a variety of curricular areas that provide career and college ready experiences: engineering, art, music, health, family and consumer science, phy-ed, and Spanish. Our experienced staff is focused on the social and emotional development of the early adolescent and provides small advisory groups and individual success coaching. Academic offerings include accelerated and honors courses in math, science, and language arts as well as support classes for those students who need extra attention in skill-building and time management. In addition to academic coursework, our students also have opportunities to engage and explore through our co-curricular offerings. Individual student attention is the strength of Mahtomedi Middle School.
