WEB leaders are eighth-grade students at Mahtomedi Middle School and mentor our sixth-grade students. Each spring, students who are current seventh-grade students can apply to be WEB leaders during their eighth-grade year.

WEB Leaders represent every type of student at Mahtomedi Middle School, not just those who are already recognized as leaders. There are no GPA requirements. Students are expected to model the behavior and academic expectations outlined in the Mahtomedi Student and Family handbook.

Here are qualities we look for in our WEB leaders:

  • strong communication skills;
  • willingness to lead others;
  • responsible enough to manage a group;
  • willing to take risks;
  • accountable to show up throughout all phases of the program during the year;
  • interest in helping others;
  • positive role model;
  • dedicated;
  • self-confident and self-directed;
  • respect for diverse ideas and personalities; and
  • enthusiastic.

Training and Commitment

Student leaders are trained in the WEB program and use their experience to guide, mentor, and lead students throughout the year. WEB leaders commit to training days, attending sixth-grade orientations, and meeting dates and activities throughout the school year.

Our School
Mahtomedi Middle School provides programming to allow each student to find success academically, socially, and emotionally. Our curriculum provides students exploratory opportunities in a variety of curricular areas that provide career and college ready experiences: engineering, art, music, health, family and consumer science, phy-ed, and Spanish. Our experienced staff is focused on the social and emotional development of the early adolescent and provides small advisory groups and individual success coaching. Academic offerings include accelerated and honors courses in math, science, and language arts as well as support classes for those students who need extra attention in skill-building and time management. In addition to academic coursework, our students also have opportunities to engage and explore through our co-curricular offerings. Individual student attention is the strength of Mahtomedi Middle School.
