Students in Red Cross Class

Does your child know CPR, first aid, and how to handle an emergency? Thanks to our partnership with the American Red Cross, our students ages 10 and older learn these important skills!

Mahtomedi Community Education partners with the American Red Cross to provide an intensive 1-day Babysitter Training for students ages 10 and older. This personalized learning experience helps our students build real-world skills, including first aid, home safety, basic care of infants and children, and emergency problem-solving. From mastering CPR to how to safely use an EPIPEN, our students leave empowered with the toolkit to safely look after themselves and others–in addition to growing their professionalism, leadership, and confidence!

When we asked students in a recent class about what lessons they will take with them moving forward, they noted that the training made them feel more prepared to handle emergency situations and take care of themselves and siblings/cousins, and land a babysitting job in the future.

Knowing how to safely take care of others can open up doors and help students develop a wide range of transferable skills like responsibility, interpersonal communication, problem-solving, and patience. We can’t wait to see these young leaders put their skills into action and soar with confidence! Click here to hear from our students about the impact of the training.
