Last week, we wrapped up another amazing summer of Mahtomedi Adventure Club (MAC). Our students celebrated this milestone with a snowcone party!
MAC is our school-age care program serving students in kindergarten through grade 5 during the school year and students who have completed kindergarten through grade 6 in the summer. This summer, we served a landmark 292 students!
MAC strives to create positive friendships and memorable experiences through an exciting schedule of gym/outside time, art and STEM activities, themed mini camps, and field trips. In total, MAC provided 4 mini camps each week such as “Bike and Blade Day” and “Lego League” and up to 30 enriching field trips throughout the summer for students in each age group such as to the Bell Museum and Planetarium, Minnesota Zoo, and Valley Fair!
At the heart of our program is a passionate team of students, alumni, and childcare specialists who are experts in creating safe and enriching environments for our participants. When asked about a proud moment from this summer, MAC coordinator Jamie O’Hara shared, “I am just always so impressed with my team. They were so good about being flexible, thinking on their feet, and finding creative ways to engage our students this summer. They really went above and beyond in caring for our students and being there for them.”
This attention and care was echoed by a parent, who shared this with Ms. O’Hara about her children’s experience in the program: “MAC has been such a light in our lives. The kids have adored you and the team and the program. I have always felt that they are safe and loved and cared for while at MAC. I've never had to worry about them. Thank you for creating this environment!"
We look forward to welcoming our students and staff back to MAC this fall!
